A proper British roadster – two seats, a soft top and rear-wheel drive. But the MG TF has another trick up its sleeve: the engine sits behind the driver. 😎🔥

Introduced in 2002 as the successor to the MGF, the TF continued MG’s modern interpretation of the classic British sports car.

Instead of the traditional front-engine layout of cars such as the MGB, the TF used a mid-mounted engine driving the rear wheels.

That gives this compact roadster a layout normally associated with much more exotic machinery. 😍

The TF also brought sharper styling and significant chassis changes compared with the MGF, giving it its own distinctive personality.

And this particular car has another great feature – the removable hardtop seen in the photo. With it fitted, the TF takes on an almost coupé-like appearance; remove it and you’re back to classic open-top British motoring. 🇬🇧

Now THIS is a Ford with personality! 😍🏁

The Ford Zodiac Mk1 was the luxurious member of Ford of Britain’s Zephyr/Zodiac family – and a wonderful example of just how much American influence found its way into British car design during the 1950s.

Under the bonnet sits a straight-six engine, while the exterior delivers everything we love about the period: plenty of chrome, a large grille and unmistakable 1950s presence.

But this particular 1956 Zodiac takes things several steps further. 😎

Auxiliary lights, a roof-mounted spotlight, luggage on the roof, competition number 13 and – of course – a caravan on the towbar!

It looks less like a museum piece and more like something ready to head straight off on a proper period touring adventure. 🇬🇧

1984 Ford Orion

🇬🇧 A Ford from the days when even the practical family saloon got its own name, character and place in the range. 😎

The Ford Orion arrived in 1983 as a close relative of the Escort – but Ford deliberately gave the four-door saloon its own identity.

Instead of simply calling it an Escort saloon, the Orion was positioned as a slightly more upmarket alternative for buyers who wanted Escort engineering with a traditional separate boot and a more formal appearance.

This 1984 example comes from the very first generation. ❤️

And just look at those lines: angular bodywork, black bumpers, a proper three-box silhouette and the wonderfully straightforward styling that instantly says 1980s European Ford.

This particular Orion has been given a noticeably sportier stance with larger wheels and a rear spoiler, adding a little extra attitude to the otherwise sensible saloon. 😍

1981 Ford Capri Mk3 2.3 Ghia

🇬🇧 “The car you always promised yourself.” And this one combines classic Capri styling with V6 power and Ghia luxury. 🤎😎

The Ford Capri was launched in 1969 with a simple idea: bring the affordable sporty-car formula to European buyers.

Rather than being one fixed performance model, the Capri could be ordered with numerous engines and trim levels – allowing customers to build anything from an economical coupé to a serious V6-powered GT.

In 1978, the version we now call the Mk3 arrived.

Its twin round headlights, black grille, long bonnet and sweeping fastback profile created the look that became one of the most recognisable European Ford designs of the era.

🔥 And this 1981 example has a V6!

The 2.3-litre engine belongs to Ford`s famous Cologne V6 family, an engine line used across numerous European Ford models.

Power goes to the rear wheels – exactly as a classic Capri should. 😍

Then there`s the Ghia badge.

Ghia represented a more luxurious side of the Capri range, combining the sporty coupé shape with additional comfort and a more upmarket character.

1974 Saab 99

Swedish engineering from a time when Saab definitely wasn`t interested in doing things the same way as everyone else. 🇸🇪😍

The Saab 99 represented a huge step forward for the Swedish manufacturer when it arrived in the late 1960s.

Larger and more modern than the Saab 96, it introduced a new generation of Saab design and engineering – but retained the unconventional thinking that would become such an important part of the brand`s identity.

Even from the rear, there`s no mistaking it for much else! 😎

The large curved glass, substantial pillars and distinctive proportions gave the 99 a shape unlike the conventional family saloons of its era.

🔧 The engine story is equally interesting. Early Saab 99s used an engine developed from a British Triumph design, before Saab progressively reworked the concept and later introduced its own B-engine.

And then came the chapter that helped change Saab forever…

TURBO! 💨🔥

In 1978, the Saab 99 Turbo helped demonstrate that turbocharging didn`t have to be reserved for exotic performance cars. Saab successfully combined turbo power with a practical everyday car – an idea that would become central to the brand for decades.

🇬🇧 V8, rear-wheel drive and unmistakable early-2000s BMW attitude. 🔥

The E63 generation marked the return of the BMW 6 Series after more than a decade away – and BMW certainly didn`t play it safe.

With its long bonnet, low roofline and distinctive rear end, the E63 became one of the defining designs of the Chris Bangle era. Controversial when new? Absolutely. But today it has serious presence.

And the 645 has something increasingly rare under that long bonnet: a naturally aspirated V8. ❤️

BMW`s 4.4-litre N62 produces around 333 hp and 450 Nm, sending its power to the rear wheels. No turbochargers or downsizing – just eight cylinders and effortless torque.

🔎 Why it’s special
The 645 wasn`t intended to be a hardcore sports car. It was a proper Grand Tourer: performance, luxury and long-distance ability wrapped in a big 2+2 coupé.

This 1934 Chevrolet combines the wonderful proportions of a pre-war American coupé with a completely different custom attitude.

When people think of early Hot Rods, Ford often gets most of the attention. But Chevrolets from the same era have also been transformed by generations of builders – and they offer something a little different from the usual Hot Rod recipe.

🔎 Why it’s special
Look past the modifications and the classic 1930s ingredients are still there: separate fenders, long bonnet, compact coupé body and beautifully rounded lines.

Add the black finish, lowered appearance and large modern wheels, and the personality changes completely. 😎

🇬🇧 British elegance with a sporting heart – and a very important chapter in Jaguar history. 🐆🇬🇧

This 1956 Jaguar Mk 1 comes from the beginning of Jaguar’s compact sports saloon story.

Interestingly, nobody walked into a Jaguar showroom in 1956 and ordered a “Mk 1”. The model was originally introduced as the Jaguar 2.4 Litre, with the Mark 1 name being applied retrospectively after the Mark 2 arrived in 1959. 🤓

The car was significant for Jaguar: its compact dimensions and unitary body construction represented a new direction, while the styling remained unmistakably Jaguar.

Under the bonnet was Jaguar’s legendary XK straight-six – an engine family already famous through cars such as the XK120 and Jaguar’s racing successes.

A more powerful 3.4-litre version followed, helping turn the elegant saloon into a serious performance machine with genuine competition credentials. 🏁
